Specialist in General Surgery
Dr. Jacobo Zafrani has been a general and bariatric surgeon at Bíblica Clinic Hospital since March 2004. His total surgeries to date amount to 4500. He performs approximately 300 types of bariatric surgeries per year. He was the first surgeon in Central America to perform metabolic surgery in 2006, and since then, he has conducted over 275 surgeries and is the lead surgeon in a multicenter study in this field.
Dr. Zafrani is the Founder and Director of the first training center for minimally invasive surgery in Central and South America. He also serves as the Representative for the Costa Rican chapter of IFSO (International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity) and Coordinator of the first Postgraduate Laparoscopic Surgery Course in Costa Rica.
